Overview
Based on the latest CEDAR Cambridge Series III hardware, Version 8 is another significant step forward, boasting numerous upgrades and improvements over previous versions. Most obviously, CEDAR Cambridge now supports video playback, allowing you to view the visual content of up to eight A/V files simultaneously while analysing and processing the audio contained within them.
At the architectural level, it boasts an expanded File Processing system, with powerful new region categories that hugely enhance its ability to perform independent processing on multiple regions of the audio and greatly extend its transcription capabilities. The system also offers improved output mapping, an expanded Hot Keys section, and it has been upgraded to play, record and process at 192kHz.
Alongside this, it offers numerous updates within its restoration and other processing modules, such as new tools in the enhanced Retouch 5™ and Respeed™, the addition of the ITU1770-2 and M-weighted standards in the Power Normaliser, plus a revised Adaptive Limiter™ that greatly extends the range of limiting and maximising effects obtainable.
With numerous other improvements, CEDAR Cambridge V8 remains the system of choice for post production houses, CD and DVD mastering studios, broadcasters, national sound archives and libraries, and many of the world's most important police and security forces.

Series III Hardware
The latest CEDAR Cambridge Series III is a server-grade powerhouse capable of processing more audio, more quickly, and for more simultaneous users than ever before. It has eight processors that provide more than double the processing power of previous hardware revisions, which is of particular benefit to users who take advantage of the system's multi-channel and batch processing capabilities, or have a need to run dozens of power-hungry processes simultaneously.
The same increase in power is true when you consider the storage capability of Series III, which includes as standard 3TB of local storage capable of holding around 10,000 hours of uncompressed audio. This makes every Series III suitable for use as a restoration server in demanding environments such as national archives and libraries, in which a single CEDAR Cambridge system can simultaneously service the needs of numerous studios and users.
The dedicated timecode reader ensures that processed audio always remains aligned to video, so that CEDAR Cambridge will work in harmony with any audio or video workstation. It also provides facilities for full automation of all CEDAR Cambridge processing parameters.
There is a constantly growing family of CEDAR Cambridge processing modules. These are applicable in all areas of audio, and you can choose precisely the combination of modules that you require. Alternatively, we can offer recommended systems for film soundtrack restoration and post (the CEDAR Cambridge Film System), audio restoration for CD and DVD (the CEDAR Cambridge Mastering System), and two for audio forensic investigation (the CEDAR Cambridge Forensic Systems).
