CEDAR Cambridge uses a deep neural network to determine where speech occurs in the timeline. It then displays a probability graph in both the waveform and combined waveform/spectrogram displays within the Process Manager to show where speech has occurred (or is likely to have occurred). Voice activity detection can save a great deal of time when processing long files with intermittent speech content.
