The CEDAR-20 Production System supported a range of real-time processes that preceded and later complemented the major CEDAR for Windows functions. Hosted by a conventional PC running DOS, and powered by the twin 40-bit floating-point DSPs of the CEDAR ProDSP/R-20 board, the system offered a full range of audio restoration, equalisation and dynamics processing modules. All of these operated in real time, allowing easy A/B comparison of the processed and unprocessed signals. Despite being deleted from the CEDAR price list, the system is still widely used in many restoration environments worldwide.
The ProDSP/R-20 is now deleted, but CEDAR for Windows will access existing boards and treat them as ProDSP/E Expansion boards. Because no trade-in of the ProDSP/R-20 is required it is simple and cost-effective to upgrade from a DOS-based CEDAR system to a full CEDAR for Windows suite running multiple applications simultaneously. You will, however, require a ProDSP/C Console board to run the new system. Please refer to the CEDAR for Windows pages, or contact your local dealer, for further information.
The ProDSP/R-20 offers full 24-bit I/O when used as a ProDSP/E and initialised under CEDAR for Windows.
It returns to 20-bit operation when used to host any CEDAR-20 process.
All CEDAR-20 Software Modules are now deleted and each has been superseded by a CEDAR for Windows equivalent.
If you have both CEDAR-20 and CEDAR for Windows you can run them simultaneously under Windows 3.x. In this case, your ProDSP/R-20 will support the CEDAR-20 software modules, and it will not appear in the CEDAR for Windows console.
It is not possible to run CEDAR-20 and CEDAR for Windows simultaneously under Windows 95. However, you can run CEDAR-20 as a stand-alone DOS application under Windows 95 provided that CEDAR for Windows is not loaded.
