Audio Algorithm Researcher

We are seeking to recruit a high-calibre mathematician or engineer to fill an exciting position within our R&D department.

The role requires a pro-active individual with a high degree of autonomy and technical ability. It will include some technical supervision of other team members, but no formal management responsibilities. The successful candidate will be expected to remain abreast of current signal processing developments in areas including machine learning, sparse representations, matrix factorisation and Bayesian inference, as well as classical digital signal processing. There will be scope to attend relevant academic conferences, and some publication of research output may be possible. The company has excellent insight and access to relevant sections of academia including the Signal Processing and Communications Laboratory of Cambridge University, and the role offers significant scope for professional development in a small but dynamic company.

The Audio Algorithm Researcher will be a creative person who can understand and interpret requirements that are expressed in non-technical terms, conduct appropriate research, and develop innovative processes and algorithms accordingly. He or she will be responsible for producing complete, practical mathematical solutions that are ready for implementation by other members of the team.

Principal responsibilities

  • research into machine learning and other innovative audio signal processing techniques
  • development of algorithms for the company's products
  • providing support and assistance to members of the team implementing those algorithms on a variety of platforms

Essential skills and experience will include

  • a deep understanding (or the ability to acquire it quickly) of audio signal processing using machine learning, statistical and non-statistical methods
  • algorithm research and development using Python
  • software development in C++
  • a background understanding of the physics of audio signals, perhaps from a music or hi-fi perspective

DSP R&D Engineer

Due to expansion of our product range, we are seeking to recruit a high-calibre DSP engineer to fill an exciting position within our R&D department.

The DSP R&D Engineer will be a creative person who can understand algorithms presented in mathematical or other high-level terms, and who can produce efficient, high-quality implementations on a range of platforms, including Windows, MacOS and embedded systems. As well being highly technically able, the successful candidate will be able to work autonomously when required and also contribute effectively to the team. The successful candidate will be expected to remain abreast of technological developments in the audio industry and the role offers significant scope for professional development in a small but dynamic company.

Principal responsibilities

  • development and implementation of innovative audio signal processing algorithms, including machine learning and classical DSP, on a variety of platforms

Essential skills and experience will include

  • an understanding of machine learning and/or digital signal processing to at least Masters level (or equivalent experience)
  • DSP algorithm prototyping and development using Python
  • software development in C++

In addition, the following skills and experience would be helpful

  • coding for embedded systems in DSP assembler or other low-level language
  • a background understanding of the physics of audio signals, perhaps from a music or hi-fi perspective
