"The Beatles catalogue is undergoing a definitive remastering and the Beatles Rock Band game is in the works"reports Rob James in the July/August issue of Resolution magazine. He talked to Simon Gibson, Surround Mastering and Restoration engineer at Abbey Road Studios, and discussed his pivotal use of CEDAR Retouch on both of these projects.

Simon said: "Since we've had Retouch... it's changed the way we [at Abbey Road] work ... There's no way that Rock Band could happen or we would have been able to offer the first half of the [Beatles] catalogue without Retouch ... This isn't so much of the coal-face as the diamond face! ... Retouch has given us a quicker and easier way of fixing things and a more successful way. It covers so many different problems."

Interviewer Rob James then ventured, "the results are little short of miraculous."

About CEDAR Retouch

CEDAR Retouch 4 is a huge leap forward in sound processing technology. Unlike conventional restoration tools, it provides a wide range of time/frequency editing capabilities, and allows users to define the temporal and spectral content of the sound that they wish to treat. Furthermore, users are not limited to rectangular definitions of complex sounds; Retouch 4 allows them to mark complex areas in its spectrogram using the types of tools commonly found in the most powerful photographic and image manipulation software. This makes it possible - accurately and correctly - to identify noises as varied as coughs, squeaky chairs, page turns, the creak of a piano pedal, car horns, and so on. Once identified, unwanted sounds can be eliminated, replaced, moved, copied, or even remixed seamlessly with the surrounding signal. All other audio remains untouched.
